Beautiful location facing the mountains but they decided to have some guy playing live music. How unfortunate. Service was lacking. The food was disappointing across the board. The truffle fries tasted frozen and drowned in a mysterious green sauce. No indication that the veggies were freshly picked from a nearby farm. Desserts were equally disappointing and doubt they are home made. Perhaps they get them from mail order. Cocktails tasted like hard liquor: no finesse or craftsmanship. We really wanted to like this place but hated the whole experience. The bread and butter tasted actually good!
Food was excellent (we got the pork and duck) and filling. Staff was fantastic. Not the cheapest night out, but you feel that your money was well spent.
The special - veal on mashed potatoes and veggies garnished with popped corn - is absolutely delicious. Mussels were heavenly. And wine selection was great. Gracious hosts, quiet atmosphere, and nice decoration just adds to the experience. Every time we are in Vermont now, we are making sure to try this again.
Staff were friendly and the timing was fine, but the food just wasn't worth the price tag unfortunately. The bugs in the outdoor dining area were also a minus.
So this place gets one star for the view from the patio which was incredible, other than that this might be the singularly most overpriced and disappointing meal I’ve ever had. Nothing, and I mean nothing about the food was worth $40-50 a plate. Out of the 5 people in my party, 4 of our meals were over cooked. I got a $50 filet mignon which was honestly the worst steak I’ve ever had. I ordered it medium rare and it was totally over cooked and the chimichurri sauce on it was not good. The drinks weren’t good either. We left without getting dessert because I wouldn’t spend a dollar more than what we did. The best thing might have been the hot bread and butter.
